Advantages of Blogs

We all know that Google’s algorithm places a greater emphasis on blog posts, tweets, and videos then ever before.  But how do you take advantage of this?  Write and keep a blog!  Blog posts are more volatile in search listings than web pages, so when you write a blog post and include keywords, your post can rise quickly in the rankings.  This also means, however, that once posts become older they can drop in rankings very quickly.

This afternoon I attended a session about Google’s love of freshness in search results.  Speakers included Kenny HyderJanet Driscoll Miller, and John Shehata.

Here are some of the main take-aways:

QDF – (query deserves freshness) – is something unique to Google and part of their algorithm.  This is the part of Google that determines what’s “hot.”
