Social Media Week: WordPress Wednesday

<< by Renee Revetta on September 21st, 2011

Continuing with Social Media Week celebration here on the Search Marketing Sage, I wanted to address another aspect of social media – blogs. From an SEO perspective, we always try to recommend WordPress, self-hosted blogs with a subdomain format. For example, your blog domain would resemble blog.yourdomainname.com. Advantages of Blogs

We all know that Google’s algorithm places a greater emphasis on blog posts, tweets, and videos then ever before.  But how do you take advantage of this?  Write and keep a blog!  Blog posts are more volatile in search listings than web pages, so when you write a blog post and include keywords, your post can rise quickly in the rankings.  This also means, however, that once posts become older they can drop in rankings very quickly.
