MSN adCenter: Mobile Ad Creation

October 30th, 2009 by Amanda Chaney

With all the hype surrounding mobile advertising lately, I recently noticed a new link when I was creating a new ad the other day. MSN adCenter has continued to make updates to allow for a more user-friendly interface, and they haven’t stopped at that. Now you can quickly and easily create a mobile ad and customize it to show only the contact information you wish.

A mobile ad is a pay-per-click ad that is displayed on a Mobile Ads results page. – adCenter help

When you select the “Ads” tab within an ad group, you will now notice a “Mobile” link next to the default “Text” link.  Once you select the “Mobile” link, you will see an ad creation page that looks a little different than you are used to:

After you fill out the Ad title and Ad text fields, you are given a few options on how to proceed from there with your contact information. adCenter gives you the option of including your phone number, your website, or the combination of both a phone number and website. The three options can be viewed below.

A few things to keep in mind when creating your mobile ads:

  • Mobile ads are shorter than text ads, to conform to smaller mobile screens.
  • Combined ad title and text must be at least 3 words long.
  • MSN suggests creating separate ad groups devoted only to mobile advertising. This would allow you to better optimize bids, set targeting specifically for your mobile audience, and view mobile performance stats separately.
  • Like text ads, mobile ads must be reviewed and approved. Be sure to read up on the Microsoft adCenter Editorial Guidelines.
