Everywhere I go I feel like people are telling me how a simple blog post can effectively create multiple inbound links for a company as well as increase your rankings on search engines. Yet, while I keep hearing how amazing they are, I haven’t seen anyone use actual data in support their claims – what can I say, I like a little proof to back up my facts. So after working with a client with a new blog, I’m here to report some real numbers.
About two months ago, one of our clients at Search Mojo announced the addition of a blog on their site. Needless to say, we were thrilled, as any SEO firm would be. Plus, I was ready to stop reading about blog effectiveness and start seeing the real thing.
After Janet explained to the client how to optimize the blog we let them loose and they spent their month bloggin’ away.
Monthly reporting time came and I was amazed by the SEO progress. Our client’s had the following results after only one month of blogging:
- 47.4% increase of inbound links to the client’s site
- 39.0% of optimized words had better rankings on Google and
- 16.3% of optimized words finally ranked in the top 100 on either Google, Yahoo, or MSN
I for one was impressed because these were the results within two months of the blog’s launch.
So if you’re like me and you’ve been reading about how “great” blogs are and not seeing the proof – here it is! And perhaps you can use these numbers as yet another reason for your clients to jump on the band wagon and start a blog. Good Luck!
